Fort Scott Truck Driver Training

The four-week Commercial Truck Driving Program at Fort Scott Community College will allow students to earn 11 hours of college credit in preparation for the Commercial Driving License (CDL) examination for operating vehicles in interstate commerce.

Program Locations
Students may study at any of our three locations Fort Scott, Kan.; Kansas City, Kan. in a program offered in cooperation with Kansas City Community College; or Emporia Truck Driving School in Emporia, Kan., in cooperation with Flint Hills Technical College. All three sites are authorized licensing agencies for the driving skills portion of the CDL examination for both Kansas and Missouri.

About the Program
During their four weeks of study, students in the Commercial Truck Driving Program will accumulate 171 hours of classroom and driving time. Emphasis is on the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations, driver`s daily log and defensive driving.

Other Opportunities at FSCC
In addition to the transportation classes, students also participate in individually designed programs to improve their reading and math skills.

Our Educational Objective
The educational objective of the FSCC Commercial Truck Driving Program is to provide the student with the information and practical experience necessary to become a successful tractor-trailer driver. Students who successfully complete the course will have the necessary skills to begin work with an established trucking firm, and will be presented a school certificate.

Job Opportunities Brought to You
During the course of their studies, students will have several opportunities to meet with recruiters from trucking firms from throughout the United States. An average of 96-percent of FSCC students who successfully complete the truck driving program are offered a job.
