Chicago man jailed for attempted bribery of FMCSA inspector
10/24/2003 - 1:43:46 pm
Hei Yeng Kwok, owner of K&W Trading Co., a Chicago trucking company, was fined $40,000 by a U.S. District Court judge in Chicago and ordered to serve 21 months in prison for attempting to bribe a federal safety inspector.
Kwok was arrested May 13 by agents of DOT’s Office of the Inspector General for attempting to bribe an FMCSA inspector, first with $2,000 and later with $4,000.
Kwok was trying to improve an unsatisfactory rating on his company’s safety compliance review. OIG investigated this case with assistance from FMCSA.
