California tanker truck company loses license

The California trucking company that operated a gasoline tanker truck that exploded in flames and caused a freeway ramp to collapse in Oakland has lost its license to haul gas.

And, according to the Tri-Valley Herald, since hauling gas is the only thing Sabek Trucking did, the company is effectively shut down.

The Herald reports the California Highway Patrol suspended Sabek’s license after an inspection turned up bad brakes and loose lug nuts on several trucks.

It marks the first time in 15 years that the patrol has used its authority to suspend a trucking company’s license.

Meanwhile, no citations have been issued in the April 29 crash and fire that collapsed the ramp between Interstates 80 and 580.
