Sterling introduces natural gas-powered truck

Sterling Truck has introduced a Class 8 tractor that’s powered by natural gas. The truck has a Cummins Westport engine and can be ordered with up to 320 horsepower.Company officials said the truck is ideal for port operations and can save the owner as much as $6,000 a year in fuel costs.
“The Sterling natural gas trucks will provide a clean, low-emission solution for medium-duty applications in short-haul, port operations, as well as natural gas utilities and municipal fleets,” said Guan Saw, president of CWI.
