Truckers will compete for cash and prizes in excess of $25,000. The 2012 SuperRigs promises fun and entertaining events for drivers, their families and the entire community. Downtown Joplin will be treated to a truck parade, as well as concerts and fireworks.
Speedco, this year’s host, is located off I-44 at Exit 11. During SuperRigs, Speedco will also be holding a grand reopening celebration for its Joplin location, which was damaged by last year’s tornado.
At the Mid-America Trucking Show, more details about concerts, special events and prizes to be awarded at the 30th Shell Rotella SuperRigs will be announced.
The Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition is the premier truck beauty contest for actively working trucks. Owner-operators from across the U.S. and Canada will compete for cash and prizes. Additionally, 12 lucky drivers will be selected to have their trucks featured in the 2013 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar. Every entrant in the contest will be awarded a gift package valued at more than $50 while supplies last.
Trucks are judged by industry professionals who work for major trucking publications and broadcast companies.
This will be the 10th year that Land Line Magazine Managing Editor Jami Jones has been a judge for SuperRigs.
“It really is an honor to be invited back year after year to judge these hardworking trucks that push the bounds of ingenuity and creativity,” Jones said. “It’s certainly not an easy job picking out the best of the best, but I won’t lie – I love it.”
Judges score the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail/finish, originality and workmanship. In total, 18 working trucks receive awards for categories such as Best of Show, Tractor, Tractor/Trailer Combination and Classic categories.
