IdleAire Delivers 9 Million Hours of Service
TULSA, Oklahoma -- IdleAire CEO Mike Crabtree told Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry and Arrow Trucking executives today that IdleAire has surpassed 9 million hours of cumulative service to the nation`s fleets and drivers this week -- two million of that coming in the last three months.
Crabtree made the announcement at the grand opening of the company`s Advanced Truckstop Electrification (ATE) system at the Arrow headquarters, where Governor Henry joined fleet and IdleAire executives to celebrate the Oklahoma installation.
IdleAire is in the midst of a national deployment of its system following the January 4 announcement of a $320 million financing package to target over 200 new sites along key freight corridors by mid-2007. The company has 68 locations in 21 states and is opening three or more new locations each week.
The IdleAire Advanced Truckstop Electrification (ATE) system provides each truck cab with not only filtered central heating and air conditioning but also electrical outlets and a range of communications, training, and entertainment options. The only truck retrofit required is a $10 window adapter available from IdleAire. Signed fleets pay $1.85/hour for their drivers to use the system. The fleets, in turn, save on fuel, maintenance and engine wear, while offering a driver benefit that can help reduce turnover and assist in recruitment. IdleAire installs, operates, and maintains the system and shares revenue with the location owner.
About IdleAire
IdleAire Technologies Corporation was formed in June 2000 to develop a high quality, reliable system to deliver a wide range of convenient in-cab services that drivers would normally expect to have only at home. The services are designed as a comprehensive solution for the long-haul industry, targeting improved driver comfort, lifestyle and rest, while saving fleets the costs associated with idling, driver retention and recruitment, and driver training - all without idling the truck engine. IdleAire`s system provides 120-volt electrical outlets, filtered central heat and air conditioning, a Pentium-class computer with color touch screen interface, high-speed Internet and e-mail, both wireless and Ethernet connections for drivers with personal computers, a telephone connection and free local phone calls, premium satellite television service, movies on demand and driver continuing education, all delivered to the truck cab. IdleAire`s system has received R&D Magazine`s 2003 R &D 100 Award as one of the most technologically significant products of the year, the 2004 EPA Clean Air Excellence Award, the 2004 California Governor`s Environmental & Economic Leadership Award, the 2004 CALSTART Blue Sky Merit Award for commercialization of this fuel-conserving system, the 2005 Texas Environmental Excellence Award, and was a finalist in the 2005 Computerworld Honors Program.
