Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month November 2004

MultiMedia`s November Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month

Waupaca, WI: Professional drivers who travel across North America might refer back to their fourth grade geography class where they were expected to remember the names of the states. Dan Green helps his Trucker Buddy class learn more than to identify the states, he expects them to memorize the capitals and their abbreviations.

Matt is a student in Sandra Christian`s Alternative Educational Services school in La Habra, California. He thinks, "Mr. Green should be selected as the best Driver of the Month because (he) takes pictures of places in other states where he drives his truck and [sends them] to us so we can know how other states and famous cities look like."

Another student, Ana, writes that Mr. Green, "gives us a reason to look up in the encyclopedia about famous people and places." She and her classmates nominated Dan Green to be the MultiMedia Trucker Buddy of the Month because he helps them learn, and makes their geography lessons real.

Sandra Christian has been a teacher in the Trucker Buddy program for more than eight years. She calls Mr. Green, "the best educational resource a teacher could find." She uses his post cards and letters in her curriculum to enhance their math, history and cultural learning. "He is a prolific letter writer, showing the students how to observe life and record their observations," she added, "He inspires the students to keep a journal, reminding us that we are `making history`."

Dan lives in Yuma, Arizona, and is a company driver for FFE (Dallas, TX.) He is one of nearly 4,000 professional drivers who share their time with elementary classes throughout the world. The only criteria to be a Trucker Buddy is to be a truck driver, willing to send a post card each week to a class in grades two through eight. Drivers and teachers can find out more about the program by visiting www.truckerbuddy.org or calling 1-800-MY BUDDY.

Dan Green will receive a personalized jacket, along with a check for $300 to spend on his class and $200 in Trucker Buddy merchandise, compliments of MultiMedia (www.tmi-multimedia.com), the advertising agency of choice for the trucking industry. He will also receive a Koolatron cooler and an Accident Photo Pak, a documentation system for drivers involved in an accident. The class will receive a CrossCountry USA game from Ingenuity Works (www.ingenuityworks.com), which will help them learn more about how trucks move freight across the continent.

Trucker Buddy is dependent on corporate sponsors such as MultiMedia Advertising to fund the program. Major contributors include,

Platinum level: Gears, Guts & Glory Magazine, Randall Trucking Media Group, TransCore and ProTrucker & Over the Road Magazines.
