Watkins Motor Lines GQS Service Suspended in Hurricane Areas
Due to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, we continue to have difficulty reaching those areas most heavily impacted. All of our terminals are fully functional, however, not all points within their respective service areas are easily reached, and many businesses remain closed.
In the interest of protecting our customers, we are suspending our Guaranteed Quality Service (GQS) for shipments destined for our Baton Rouge (BTN), Miami (MIA), New Orleans (NOL), and Palm Beach County (PBC) terminals. In addition, outbound GQS service is also suspended in New Orleans (NOL).
The weather related pick-up and delivery restrictions we face in these areas allow for a service exemption under our GQS rules. But we believe it is unfair to allow our customers to pay for a premium guaranteed service in instances where we know we have difficulty meeting that guarantee. If you have GQS shipments bound for one of these terminals already in our system, we will automatically correct your bill to remove the GQS charges.
Should you have any questions, please contact your account executive or your local terminal
